Medbourne and Hallaton
Both villages are approximately a mile and a half from the park and have a history going back to the Iron age and Roman periods. Modern attractions in the shape of local hostelries can be highly recommended for their food and good ale.

Foxton Locks

Market Harborough
Three contrasting buildings give character to the centre of Market Harborough. St. Dionysius church has a fine medieval spire, the 16th century grammar school is on stilts and the impressive former Symington’s factory incorporates the Harborough Museum.
north east of the town, beautiful rolling countryside stretches away towards Eyebrook Reservoir and the villages of Hallaton and Medbourne.

Rutland
Although the smallest County in England Rutland has a wealth attractions to offer including it’s County Town of Oakham and Rutland Water

Stanford Hall
Home of the Cave family, ancestors of Lady Braye, since 1430. Present hall built by Smiths of Warwick in 1690s It contains antique furniture, fine pictures (including the Stuart Collection) and family costumes. Also an impressive Motorcycle Museum, including a replica of Percy Pilcher’s 1898 Flying Machine.

Northamptonshire Rose of the Shires
Amongst the many places to visit in Northamptonshire there is Athorpe House (resting place of Princes Diana), Rockingham Castle, Wickstead Park in Kettering and the Nasby Battlefield.
